Yep, that's a Northern!
Sometimes the size of the Northern is suprising! Still, they are very fun to catch, and they offer some outstanding battles for those that head out after them!

Gettin' bigger!
First time fly-fishing for Northern Pike, and this one is more of the average size in our area. Even in super windy conditions as it was on this day, we caught Northerns. Larger fish will inhabit the same water that these "average" fish swim in. |

That's more like it!
This is an example of a VERY nice Northern in our Northwoods! We find a good number of Northerns this size through the ice each winter, and sometimes while fishing muskies in the open-water season. Pike this size are fantastic fighting fish, and are every bit as formidable as a comparable sized musky! |

Then there are the truly incredible Northerns that everyone would love to catch! This is proof that they DO, in fact, swim in the northern waters that we fish. Catching them requires time and effort, but the reward is nothing short of fantastic! | |
